God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea.

Psalm 46:1-2

Thoughts on Today’s Verse…

God promised to be our refuge and strength. Our challenge is to trust that we are not alone or abandoned when emotional earthquakes, disasters, and tidal waves overwhelm our lives. God is not only our protector and helper. He is with us even when our world seems to be crashing around us. He will rescue us from death or deliver us through death to himself. He will deliver us from evil or empower us to overcome evil. We do not have to fear whatever may come because God is our refuge and strength!

My Prayer…

Holy God, I pray for those who are in the middle of life’s earthquakes today. You know those for whom I am concerned. You know I care about their struggles which are too big for me to mitigate and too painful for me to truly bring comfort. I ask you to bless and be with them now and deliver them quickly. You are our only true hope, and Jesus is our only sure redeemer. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
